Job summary

AdventHealth in Burleson, Texas, is seeking a PRN MRI Technologist to perform high-quality MRI examinations and ensure patient safety. You will educate patients, operate scanners, and document findings in the EMR/PACS while adhering to regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

  • High School or equivalent required; MRI training program completion preferred.
  • Associate degree in radiologic technology preferred.
  • ARMRIT/ARRT and BLS certifications required per facility policy.

Responsibilities

  • Operate MRI scanners and related equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Educate patients about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety.
  • Maintain accurate EMR and PACS documentation and QA checks.
  • Ensure rooms are clean, stocked, and safety protocols followed.
  • Cover Saturday 3pm-11pm shifts as needed.

Job Description

Shift: PRN, as needed


PRN Rate: $47.58/hour


Must be available to cover Saturdays 3pm-11pm



  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.

  • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.

  • Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam.

  • Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging.

  • Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.

  • Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.

  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.

  • Performs high-quality MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols to ensure diagnostic image quality and patient safety.

  • Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications (e.g., implanted devices, metal, claustrophobia, contrast allergies).

  • Screens all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards, including completion of required screening documentation.

  • Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures [Required]

  • Maintain responsibility for all Hospital continuing and annual education [Required]

  • Must maintain all required registries and licenses to perform imaging procedures [Required]

  • Ability to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts of time, distance, and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff [Required]

  • Ability to perform MRI procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail [Required]

  • Excellent customer service skills [Required]

  • Ability to deal efficiently, ethically, and courteously with all patients and hospital personnel [Required]

  • Excellent verbal and written skills to facilitate communication with medical personnel that addresses the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-appropriate needs of the patient population served within the organization [Required]



Education


  • High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

  • Associate [Preferred]



Work Experience


  • 1+ years experience in radiology and completion of MRI training program [Preferred]



Licenses and Certifications


  • American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) [Required] OR Registered Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist RT(MR)(ARRT) [Required] AND

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) [Required]
