Qualifications

  • Graduated from an accredited Radiologic Technology school and A.R.R.T. certified.
  • One year MRI experience or ARRT certified in radiology with cross training.

Job description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

This position receives general direction of the Radiologist and supervision from Imaging Services Supervisor. The MRI Technologist performs a variety of radiologic procedures including routine and special MRI procedures within the limits of standard procedures of the Imaging Services Department. Position may have on-call responsibilities on evening/night/weekend and/or holiday shifts.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Investigates and resolves patient complaints within the unit.
  2. Positions, handles and performs MRI and radiologic procedures of patients per orders of the Radiologist.
  3. Performs general and special MRI procedures as requested.
  4. Assists with the quality assessment/improvement plan for department with attention to MRI services.
  5. Identifies and resolves problems related to equipment, patients, supplies and billing procedures.
  6. Performs clerical and support tasks including patient transporting and exam scheduling.
  7. Prepares and maintains routine department records and reports; and special and periodic reports and/or analysis.
  8. Works with Team Leader to coordinate Performance Improvement projects and data collection for MRI area.
  9. Assists supervisor(s) with budgetary reviews related to MRI needs.
  10. Monitors MRI processes and activities for quality of procedures and performance of staff.
  11. Maintains exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all individuals.
  12. Maintains a professional appearance and approach.
  13. Responds to all inquiries and requests in a timely manner.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Graduation from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  2. Certification by the A.R.R.T.
  3. Valid Iowa permit to practice.
  4. One (1) year MRI experience or ARRT certified in radiology with at least one year of cross training at Broadlawns Medical Center.
  5. Demonstrates effective communication skills.
  6. Experience with computer applications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Two (2) years previous experience as MRI Technologist in a hospital environment.
  2. Bilingual.
