Job summary

Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS is seeking an MRI Tech Assistant PRN to support MRI exams and patient care. You will assist the MRI Technologist, help with patient positioning, IV assessment, and ensure safety in the MRI environment.

This role provides comprehensive benefits and a chance to work in a leading healthcare system. The position requires BLS within 30 days and a commitment to high-quality care in a fast-paced imaging department.

Qualifications

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

Responsibilities

  • Adapt MRI techniques to age groups from newborn to geriatric, with cultural sensitivity.
  • Move and lift patients and transport portable equipment with the patient.
  • Transport patients to and from MRI areas within the hospital.
  • Assist patients with dressing as needed.
  • Check patients in and out of nursing units.
  • Ensure supplies and equipment are stocked and functioning.
  • Assist MRI Technologist during exams.
  • Start and assess IVs as needed.
  • Complete Level II MRI Safety training for a safe environment.
  • Answer telephone efficiently and relay messages to appropriate personnel.
  • Coordinate nursing unit activities within Imaging.
  • Provide comfort to patients in the MRI environment and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Maintain a positive image and assist customers.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Summary And Qualifications
  • Demonstrates the ability to adapt technique/treatment to age of population served, including newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, while providing care/service with respect to cultural differences and spiritual needs
  • Moves and lifts patients, managing any portable equipment that must be transported with the patient
  • Transports patients to and from various areas of the hospital to MRI
  • Assists patients with dressing
  • Checks patients in an out of nursing units
  • Ensures supplies and equipment are stocked and in good working order
  • Assists MRI Technologist during exams
  • Has the competency and ability to start and assess IV’s
  • Completes level II MRI Safety training to ensure a safe working environment
  • Answers telephone efficiently and courteously, relaying messages and calls to appropriate personnel and other departments as needed
  • Coordinates activities of nursing unit within Imaging
  • Provides comfort to patients inside the MRI environment and recognizes when and how to upscale patient concerns up the chain of command
  • Presents a positive image at all times while directing and assisting customers
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
