Job summary

Geisinger in Danville, PA is seeking a Diagnostic Radiology Technologist to join the GMC Radiology Team for day shifts. This full-time role involves performing radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, preparing patients, documenting activities, and ensuring safety and compliance with all policies.

The role requires ARRT credentials, BLS, and graduation from an approved Radiologic Technology program. A sign-on bonus of 20,000 is available for eligible applicants, with comprehensive benefits from

Qualifications

  • Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Radiologic Technology (Required).
  • ARRT certification within 24 months – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
  • Utilizes imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety and applying ALARA principles.
  • Preparing and/or administering medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Evaluates images for proper positioning and quality and verifies data transfer/archival storage.
  • Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
  • Assisting the licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized radiologic procedures.
  • Performing diagnostic radiographic and noninterpretive fluoroscopic procedures as prescribed, including outside Radiology.
  • Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.

Job Summary

Radiologic Technologists are responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic or research purposes.

A Radiologic Technologist performs a full scope of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures and acquires and analyzes data needed for diagnosis at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner.

Radiologic Technologists independently perform or assist the licensed practitioner in the completion of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures.

Radiologic Technologists prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications and radiation exposure in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policy.

Job Duties
  • Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
  • Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
  • Preparing and/or administering, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.
  • Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
  • Assisting the licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized radiologic procedures.
  • Performing diagnostic radiographic and noninterpretive fluoroscopic procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner, including those procedures performed outside of the Radiology Department (i.e., Operating room, Endoscopy, ICU, etc.).
  • Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.

Position Details
  • New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry within 6 months of the date of hire.
  • Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps required for advancing to level 2 within 24 months.
Education
  • Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Radiologic Technology (Required)
Certification(s) and License(s)
  • Basic Life Support Certification – Default Issuing Body;
  • Certified Radiology Technologist within 24 months – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
