Job Summary

The MRI Safety Assistant assists MRI technologists to facilitate safe care and workflows in the MRI environment, strictly adhering to and enforcing safety procedures. Responsibilities include patient preparation, positioning, transport, scheduling, and administrative support to ensure timely and safe completion of imaging studies.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care as directed by the MRI technologist, virtual operations center, or physician.
• Assists in problem solving and troubleshooting of equipment and supplies.
• Performs one‑to‑one patient safety watch following established policy and procedures.
• Transports non‑controlled medications to meet clinic and unit needs.
• Greets patients, aids in paperwork, and transports them to imaging areas.
• Schedules patient appointments and processes imaging requests.
• Answers telephone calls, routes calls appropriately, and documents information.
• Assists in patient preparation, positioning, lifting, and transport during examinations.
• Prepares, maintains, and prints reports and records.
• Ensures necessary supplies are available and stocked; completes requests for supplies.
• Provides assistance to technical staff with all duties necessary for imaging studies.
• Participates with the Virtual Operations Center to complete examinations.
• Performs safety screening on patients entering MRI suites.
• Works under direct supervision of an MR technologist in a clinical environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) – required.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year related work experience – required.
