Accountable to Assistant Manager of Radiology and Manager. Responsible for assisting the MRI radiologic technologist during MRI exams.

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of MRI technologists, serve as a valued member of the Radiology Team, assisting the MRI technologists.
• Assist in confirming appointments and begin first level of safety screening process.
• Help schedule patients and maximize table time by allowing for efficient and safe room turn‑around for the next patient, including getting patients on/off the MRI table and setting up coils.
• Help with transport when needed and visit patient floors for tasks such as delivering MRI safe IV pumps.
• Update families on status of their child during exams, especially with scans involving anesthesia.
• Sanitize equipment and maintain in‑room supplies.
• Be a talented multitasker, enabling a quick and efficient fast‑paced MRI department.
• Communicate skillfully to interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
• Use good computer skills to utilize the current Radiology Information System.
• May be called upon to cover day, evenings, weekends. Rotates shifts as warranted.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

• Education required: High School Diploma, GED, or a higher level of education that would require completion of high school.
• Preferred: Minimum six months previous pediatric experience.
• License: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification upon hire.
• Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; competency in caring for patients treated at Connecticut Children’s regardless of age, disability, gender, and ethnicity; knowledge and skills to efficiently operate CR, RIS, PACS, and CD burner.
