Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an MRI Aide to support the MRI team in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will help prepare patients, screen for safety, assist with transfers, and aid technologists to maintain efficient workflows and patient comfort.

You will verify identifiers, manage supplies, and help with imaging records while delivering compassionate care and high-quality service to patients undergoing MRI procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Ability to assist with patient transport and transfers.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Ability to follow MRI safety protocols and departmental procedures.
• Availability to work Day Shift schedules and Per Diem as needed.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and verify two patient identifiers prior to imaging procedures.
• Conduct verbal MRI safety screenings and review MRI safety questionnaires with patients.
• Assist patients with changing into appropriate attire before examinations.
• Help MRI Technologists prepare exam rooms and imaging equipment.
• Set up MRI coils and equipment to expedite patient table time.
• Load power injectors with contrast and saline per protocols.
• Assist with patient transfers to and from the MRI table using equipment.
• Transport patients safely to and from the MRI department.
• Stock MRI rooms and maintain supplies for daily operations.
• Scan patient documentation into PACS and ensure accurate billing in IDX.
• Obtain CDs, films, and imaging records as requested.
• Support MRI Technologists and Radiology staff with patient care and department needs.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support operations.

MRI Aides play a critical role in supporting the MRI team by ensuring patients are prepared, screened, transported, and assisted throughout their imaging experience. Working closely with MRI Technologists and Radiology staff, MRI Aides help maintain efficient department operations, promote patient safety, and contribute to a positive patient experience. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to compassionate patient care.

A Typical Day for an MRI Aide May Include:

• Greeting patients and verifying two patient identifiers prior to imaging procedures.
• Conducting verbal MRI safety screenings and reviewing MRI safety questionnaires with patients.
• Assisting patients with changing into appropriate attire before examinations.
• Helping MRI Technologists prepare exam rooms and imaging equipment to support efficient workflow.
• Setting up MRI coils and other required equipment to help expedite patient table time.
• Loading power injectors with contrast and saline in accordance with departmental protocols.
• Assisting with patient transfers to and from the MRI table using wheelchairs, stretchers, and other transfer equipment.
• Transporting patients safely to and from the MRI department.
• Stocking MRI rooms and maintaining adequate supplies for daily operations.
• Scanning patient documentation into PACS and ensuring accurate billing information is entered into IDX.
• Obtaining CDs, films, and other imaging records as requested.
• Supporting MRI Technologists and other Radiology team members with patient care and departmental needs.
• Performing additional duties as assigned to support departmental operations.
