Job summary

HDR is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to perform design and inspection of movable bridges and related heavy movable structures. The role involves coordinating workload, reviewing documents, and providing construction support, with travel to field sites as needed.

The candidate should have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, experience with mechanical system design in commercial or institutional facilities, and a PE or recognition by the licensing board where the position is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildings

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design and inspection (machinery and hydraulics) on movable bridges and other heavy movable structures
• Coordinate workload to complete on schedule and on budget
• Review of mechanical documents
• Perform inspections and write associated reports
• Write/edit mechanical specifications and select equipment, systems and devices
• Provide construction support as needed
• Conduct QA/QC on and coordinate with the work of other Mechanical Engineers, Mechanical Coordinators or Technicians
• Work will include a mixture of office and field work and may require travel
• Mentor younger mechanical staff
