Job summary

Mount Sinai is seeking an Associate Researcher to oversee day-to-day management and coordination of mouse colonies supporting multiple research projects in New York. You will work with investigators, staff, and animal-care personnel to ensure colonies are maintained, animals are available on schedule, and breeding and record-keeping meet welfare standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science or related field preferred.
• 0–2 years of research or laboratory experience.
• Experience with animal handling is desired.

Responsibilities

• Manage breeding colonies and determine breeding strategies.
• Maintain colony records including pedigrees, genotypes, breeding history, animal numbers, ages, sex, and experimental availability.
• Coordinate genotyping and track results.
• Forecast animal requirements with investigators and research staff for experiments.
• Monitor colony size and breeding efficiency to minimize waste and costs.
• Coordinate allocation and transfer of animals between cohorts.
• Review colonies to identify breeders needing replacement or shortages.
• Assist with genetic crosses and maintenance of transgenic lines.
• Communicate colony status and timelines with laboratory members.
• Coordinate with IACUC and institutional policies.
