Job Summary

The Mountain Sports Shop Manager is responsible for all aspects of shop operations and floor management, including staff, equipment, and property, to meet financial goals and company initiatives. The Manager will foster a team environment that provides exceptional customer service, ensuring staff perform at a high level. The Manager will motivate, instill accountability, and drive success within the shop and resort.

Essential Functions

  • Plan, develop, and direct daily operations.
  • Forecast and analyze sales, labor, and profit; ensure adherence to budgets.
  • Schedule, supervise, and participate in operational duties specific to the shop.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff.
  • Implement loss prevention procedures.
  • Manage inventory to maximize sales and profit; oversee promotional strategies.
  • Handle pre-season orders to optimize purchasing costs.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and resolve complaints.
  • Coordinate uniform and helmet programs for employees.
  • Maintain a safe environment, including equipment, inventory, sanitation, and cash control. Report safety issues promptly.

Skills and Knowledge Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years of management experience required.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Photoshop.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to move frequently within the shop, lift up to 50 lbs., and stand for extended periods.
  • Read and write in English.
  • Clear verbal communication skills.
  • Presence at the job site is essential.
