Giants Ridge is seeking a hands-on Retail Manager for our gift shop operation. You will oversee daily shop activities, merchandise selection, displays, staff development, and guest service while driving sales and maintaining brand standards.

Lead a small team, schedule shifts, monitor inventory, and ensure loss prevention. This role offers a competitive salary of $50,000–$55,000 and benefits; evening/weekend shifts may be required in a dynamic resort environment.

Qualifications

Job Summary: The Retail Manager is responsible for all aspects of the retail shop operations and floor management, including staff, equipment, and property to facilitate the fulfillment of financial goals and company initiatives. The Manager cultivates a team environment that provides exceptional customer service while ensuring all staff members perform at a consistently high level. The Manager motivates, instills accountability, and achieves results to drive success within the reatil shop and at the resort.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Plans, develops, and directs daily operations.
• Forecasts and analyzes sales, labor, and profit; and ensure compliance with established budget.
• Recruits, supervises, trains, schedules, disciplines, reviews, and directs the retail shop's staff.
• Establishes and implements loss prevention procedures.
• Merchandises inventory to maximize sales and profit potential. Directs and implements promotional strategies and programs.
• Manage pre-season and ongoing merchandise purchasing to secure best available pricing and maintain appropriate inventory levels. Places orders in a timely manner and ensures the merchandise received is accurately inventoried and entered into the sales system.
• Responds to customer inquiries and resolves customer complaints.
• Coordinates uniform purchases, as well as employee helmet programs.
• Maintains and ensures safe facility environment including standards for maintenance and upkeep of gift shop's equipment, inventory, housekeeping, sanitation, cash control, and dress. Notifies the Director of Skier Services of all unusual events, circumstances, or other safety or quality control issues.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

• High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelor’s or Business Degree preferred.
• At least 1-2 years of experience in related management required.
• Computer proficiency with the ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, and Photoshop.
• Demonstrated talent for interacting with a wide variety of people.
• Ability to effectively organize and coordinate multiple priorities; ability to work well as a team leader; ability to problem-solve.
• Strong customer service abilities; actively looks for ways to assist customers and coworkers.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the gift shop. Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
• Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 25 lbs. regularly, 30-35 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Ability to stand for the entire work day and to climb steps regularly.
• Withstanding temperature extremes in indoor/outdoor environments.
• Reading and writing work-related documents in English.
• Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of customers and co-workers and the ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood by customers and co-workers in English.
• Constantly communicates and receives verbal communication with other employees in a sometimes fast-paced environment.
• Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties.
