Job summary

Shermco Industries in Irving, TX is seeking an experienced Motor Shop Mechanic to service and repair large AC/DC motors and generators. The role involves dismantling, inspecting, and reassembling components, and testing performance.

Candidates must lift up to 75 lbs, operate overhead cranes, work overtime, and pass background and drug tests. Excellent mechanical aptitude and English fluency required; travel occasional.

Qualifications

• Experience inspecting, dismantling, and reassembly of large AC and DC industrial motors or wind generators up to 3,000 HP.
• Must be able to safely lift and maneuver up to 75 lbs.
• Must be and remain Drug-Free; subject to periodic, unannounced random drug tests.
• Must have and maintain a good criminal background check.
• All offers are conditioned on acceptable results from a background check and drug and alcohol screening.
• Must be willing and able to work regular overtime including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
• Must be able to fluently read, write and speak English.

• Examine bearings, shafts, and other moving parts for excessive wear or defects.
• Test coils, armatures, stators, rotors and field coils for continuity, shorts and grounds and insulation resistance
• Measure and record machined parts fits.
• Prepare parts for assembly.
• Assemble and test rotating machine for specified performance.

Shermco is ISO certified, a member of EASA, AWEA, PEARL and is accredited by NETA, PEV, SKF & ANAB.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Schedule (subject to change)

• Hours - typical work hours are 7:00am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday with a 1-hour lunch break.


• Possible to be on a 2nd shift 3:30pm to 12:30am Monday through Friday with a 1-hour lunch break.


• Periodic evening, weekend and holiday work will be required, subject to project scope and customer hours.


• Overtime - regular overtime should be expected, with occasional long weeks to meet production demands.


• Travel - occasional overnight trips away from home to attend industry conferences or visit customers.
