Job summary

Cass County Government is seeking a heavy equipment operator based in Davenport, ND, to maintain gravel roads year-round and plow snow with motor graders. You will inspect and repair equipment, assist mechanics, and oversee graveling by contractors, with occasional building repairs to outlying shops.

Responsibilities include managing a blade route, coordinating with the Highway Superintendent, and being available after hours during emergencies.

Qualifications

• 3 years experience in operating heavy equipment.
• Ability to take orders and resolve any problems.
• Knowledge of construction equipment and the materials used.
• Heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
• Good interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate motor grader to maintain gravel roads all year long.
• Plow snow using motor graders and occasionally tandem axle truck.
• Inspect and repair equipment; assist mechanics in preparing graders for plowing snow.
• Oversee maintenance graveling by contractors and county staff; perform building repairs to outlying shops.
• Occasional mowing of ditches with mower and tractor; manage blade route and time.
