Job summary

WGBH’s GBH Creative team is hiring a Motion Designer/Editor to create motion design, animation, and edited video for broadcast as well as digital, social, and marketing needs. This hybrid role will support projects from early concept and hand-off through final delivery, partnering across the team to keep work on schedule and aligned to established brand languages.

Based in Boston, MA, this staff position requires on-site presence on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with hybrid flexibility for other

Qualifications

• A strong portfolio or reel demonstrating excellent visual judgment, motion design, and storytelling across a range of styles.
• Strong graphic design fundamentals, including typography, composition, color, and visual hierarchy.
• Ability to understand, reproduce, and extend existing creative work while maintaining its visual and motion language.
• Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and professional motion design and editing workflows.
• Experience with Cinema 4D or another 3D application is valuable but not required.
• Video production experience, including camera operation, lighting, and/or directing, is strongly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design, and execute motion graphics, animation, and edited video for broadcast, digital, social, promotional, and marketing projects.
• Work within existing creative systems, adapting to different visual styles while maintaining established brand standards and design language.
• Develop new creative directions when needed, including style frames, storyboards, and motion tests.
• Own projects from concept or existing creative through final delivery, working within established schedules, budgets, and technical requirements.
• Design and animate graphics packages, show opens, promotional graphics, and other branded content.
• Edit short-form video with attention to storytelling, pacing, music, sound, and motion graphics.
• Support video production as needed, including camera operation, lighting, and directing based on experience.
• Collaborate with creative leadership, producers, designers, and clients, presenting work, responding to feedback, and applying creative direction through revisions.
• Stay current with evolving creative tools, techniques, and production workflows, and share knowledge with the team.

Location: Boston, MA (hybrid) at Guest Street, Brighton, MA. Job status: Staff position with on-site requirements Tuesday and Wednesday’s.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.

Salary

$60,000 - $76,200 per year.
