Job summary

Monks is seeking a versatile animation artist to join the animation & motion graphics department. You’ll create animations for a wide variety of projects, producing work for brands worldwide.

A big chunk of the job is hands-on animating, helping scope simple projects and animation tasks, creating assets for pitches, concepting, art directing, and mentoring junior animators. The role blends original work with adaptations from existing styles and assets, and requires collaboration with animation

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in animation/motion graphics.
• Setting creative and technical standards to choose tools and techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
• Ability to mentor juniors and work with directors to realize a shared vision.

Responsibilities

As part of the mighty animation & motion graphics department, you’ll create animations for a wide variety of projects, producing work for incredible, worldwide number one brands. A big chunk of the job is hands-on animating, helping scope simple projects and animation tasks, creating assets for pitches, concepting, art directing, and mentoring junior animators. The job’s a mix of original work and creating equally awesome adaptations from existing styles and assets.

Requirements

• For this position, we are looking for a versatile animation artist with 3+ years of experience in the animation/motion graphics field.
• Setting creative and technical standards to determine the best tools and techniques to use is essential.
• Have impeccable interpersonal skills.
• Having the highest skill quality out there and helping others get to the same level or to surpass it!
• Take matters into your own hands when needed, but always look at your project’s bigger picture- keeping the north star in mind.
• Working together with animation directors, creative directors and art directors to bring your combined creative vision to life.
• You know the ins and outs of animation - from concept to creation and beyond.
• You can produce drop-dead gorgeous animations, illustrations and designs, even under skinny jeans-tight deadlines.
• Your first-rate skills with After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop are second to none. Cinema 4D, and Harmony/Flash would be nice-to-haves in your creative toolkit.
• You know how to get the principal details right, or break’em for artistic effect.
• However, the job’s not only about technical artistry. To excel in this role, you have to be a team player skilled in communicating problems and progress, as well as being practiced in working together with juniors and seniors alike. Staying open minded and solution oriented is key!
• Proactiveness to spot issues and roll your sleeves to solving them, either if they’re technical or human, is an important part of this constructive role.
