• Minimum one year of patient-care experience as an RN.
• Strong communication, critical-thinking, and organizational skills.

Overview

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse I provides individualized, goal‑directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process. The role delivers safe and effective care and collaborates with the health‑care team to achieve desired outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

The registered nurse will:

• Provide direct patient care, including assessments, medication administration, and patient education.
• Implement nursing care plans and monitor patient progress.
• Collaborate with physicians and other health‑care professionals during patient rounds.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.
• Respond to patient emergencies and implement critical care protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; Associate or Diploma RN candidates must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years of hire and complete the degree within four years.
• Current licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an accredited provider.
• Minimum one year of patient‑care experience as a registered nurse.
• Strong communication, critical‑thinking, and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
• Manual dexterity and fine motor skills for tasks such as taking vitals, administering injections, or conducting physical exams.
• Capacity to lift and move patients or medical equipment as needed.
• Visual acuity and color perception to accurately read medical charts, documents, and monitors.
• Auditory ability to effectively communicate with patients and colleagues.
• Stamina and resilience to handle long shifts and stressful situations.
• Mobility to navigate clinical environments, including moving between patient rooms and offices.
• Compliance with infection control protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment.
