Job summary

Rentokil North America is seeking a Mosquito Technician to deliver outdoor pest control services with safety and courtesy. You will perform surveillance, larviciding and adulticiding tasks while maintaining precise records and following label directions.

The role involves field work outdoors, proper PPE use, and clear communication with customers. A valid driver's license and willingness to learn about pest control are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Possess a valid driver's license from state of residence.
• Licenses/certificates as required by federal, state, and/or local regulations (covered by us).

Responsibilities

• Routinely inspect control zones for potential mosquito breeding habitat and presence of larvae by visual inspection and dipping.
• Assess inspection sites and use appropriate control techniques such as source reduction, biological or chemical control.
• May place and retrieve monitoring devices for accessing mosquito populations.
• Accurately record findings and control activities on logs and GPS, and enter data into the company database.
• Follow safety data sheets (SDS) and label specifications; use PPE as required.
• Communicate respectfully and knowledgeably with residents during inspections and public relations activities.

What do our Mosquito Technicians do?

The primary purpose of this role is to provide a quality, professional service. They deliver service with courtesy, safety, and dependability and to ensure each customer has a positive experience. Here at VDCI, we have a strong focus on preventing the spread of diseases through mosquito control. We complete mosquito surveillance and preventative services, as well as large-scale spraying.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Routinely inspect control zones for potential mosquito breeding habitat and the presence of mosquito larvae by visual inspection and "dipping"
• Assess each inspection site and utilize the appropriate control techniques, such as: no action, source reduction, biological control, public education and chemical control (including the application of larvicides and/ adulticides at the labeled application rates)
• May place and retrieve monitoring devices for accessing mosquito populations
• Accurately record all findings and control activities on the appropriate log sheet and GPS unit, and enter data into VDCI's database as required by the contract
• Be thoroughly familiar with all applicable chemical labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and handle/apply all chemicals according to label specifications
• Know and follow proper safety and spill procedures at all times, and use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) regularly.
• Communicate respectfully, honestly, and knowledgeably to residents at all times during service request inspections, routine larvicide activities, or during any other public relations activities
• Know and follow the proper and safe operations of all equipment used,
• Mix pesticides & fill sprayers accurately as needed, and follow all required safety precautions for the application of products
• React to change promptly and effectively, and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
• Solid reading, writing, and verbal communication skills and the ability to present information in both internal and external settings.

Essential Job Functions:

• Comfortable with self-directed working conditions after a training period
• Work is regularly performed outdoors and may include exposure to potentially hazardous situations and substances such as weather conditions, challenging and uneven/unstable terrain, pesticides, dust and airborne particulates, excessive noise, biting insects, hazardous plants, and wild and domestic animals.
• Must be capable of lifting and using items such as chemical containers and application equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Safely operate a motor vehicle and make sure it and all other equipment is kept clean.

• High school diploma or GED; related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Possess a valid driver's license from state of residence.
• Basic math skills - add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. You'll need to be able to follow instructions for mixing on product labels.
• Licenses/certificates as required by federal, state, and/or local regulations (covered by us)
• Customer-facing experience preferred.
