Job description

Perform mosquito control activities and surveillance to minimize the impact of mosquito-spread diseases such as West Nile Virus. This is a seasonal position.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain mosquito traps.
• Collect weekly mosquito trap contents and deliver a portion to the North Dakota Department of Health laboratory.
• Determine the sex and species of mosquitoes and enter data into the records system.
• Perform mosquito control activities such as treating water with larvicide and applying adulticide in public areas.
• Load and unload pesticide, triple wash pesticide containers before disposal.
• Clean, wash, and maintain mosquito equipment, including vehicles.
• Maintain mosquito storage space.
• Perform other duties of a comparable level/type as required.
• Perform related duties.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 18 years of age at date of hire.
• Must possess a valid North Dakota Driver's license.
• Must achieve certification from the Burleigh County Extension Officer in the following programs: Core, Right of Way, and Public Health.
• Ability to use a microscope.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to follow instructions, especially those on pesticide labels.
• Ability to use Microsoft applications and GIS.
• Ability to record and maintain accurate records.
