Job summary

The City of Gainesville is seeking a skilled working crew leader to direct a semi-skilled team in implementing integrated pest management using mechanical, biological, and chemical controls. You will plan, supervise, and train staff while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance on all sites.

Responsibilities include coordinating activities, managing timekeeping and records, and applying EPA-approved pesticides as part of mosquito control and aquatic vegetation programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with at least 3 years in mosquito, pest or aquatic vegetation control.
• Valid Florida Driver license within 30 days of appointment.
• Valid Public Health Pest Control license issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (DACS) on appointment.
• Ability to lead a crew of semi-skilled workers and plan work.

Responsibilities

• Leads, plans, and coordinates the work of a crew of semi-skilled workers.
• Assists in implementing aquatic vegetation management program.
• Performs duties similar to those led by the crew.
• Provides training and evaluates subordinates' performance.
• Maintains safety and compliance with regulations.
• Maintains and repairs equipment used in pest control.
