Overview

Primarily responsible for working with customers interested in identifying and obtaining permanent FHA/VA and conventional mortgage loans and other residential mortgage programs that best meet the customer’s financial needs and objectives, while adhering to the requirements of federal registration under the SAFE Act.

Primary Responsibilities

• Interview applicants to collect and analyze income, assets, debts, and credit data; determine loan risk and pre‑qualify borrowers.
• Assess creditworthiness, issue pre‑qualification statements, and advise customers on products that best fit their needs.
• Recommend other bank products or alternative lending vehicles as needed.
• Market, service, and promote the bank’s mortgage products to Realtors, builders, developers, and the public.
• Travel to prospective customers’ homes or business locations to solicit business, follow up, and negotiate loan terms.
• Bind the bank when negotiating loan terms.
• Ensure compliance with all origination procedures, bank policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor local real‑estate market trends and changes in regulations.
• Represent the bank in the community, present seminars, and promote additional business.

Scope of Responsibilities

• Work under limited supervision, often away from the office.
• Maintain extensive external contacts and collaborate with other Bank personnel.
• Establish and maintain federal registration requirements outlined in the SAFE Act.

Education and Experience Required

• Associate’s degree and at least 2 years of sales experience, or a combined minimum of 4 years of higher education and/or relevant work experience with at least 2 years of sales experience.
• Thorough knowledge of FHA/VA regulations, conventional loan requirements, and real estate law.

Education and Experience Preferred

• Knowledge of residential mortgage software and personal computers.
• Proven sales ability, strong mathematical skills, self‑motivated, well‑organized.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact with customers of all income levels.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and follow through on details; ability to work under critical time constraints.

Compensation

Commission‑based with an advanced draw.
