Job summary

Local Community Bank is seeking a Mortgage Underwriter in Shreveport to manage a diverse loan pipeline, underwriting Conventional, FHA, VA, RD and 203k loans. The role requires at least 5 years of residential underwriting and processing experience and the ability to meet closing deadlines.

Responsibilities include reviewing stipulations, analyzing loan packages, and maintaining quality control while delivering excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years underwriting experience for FHA, VA, RD and Conventional loans.
• Thorough understanding of credit underwriting and financial statement analysis.
• Knowledge of DU and LP.
• Strong credit, risk analysis and analytical skills.
• Ability to work with loan originators and production staff to obtain documentation.
• Active CHUMS preferred, but not required.

** MORTGAGE UNDERWRITER**

Seeking responsible, organized, mortgage professional with recent experience in the Mortgage Industry. This position is responsible for underwriting and managing a pipeline to meet closing deadlines. The pipeline will consist of Conventional, FHA, VA, RD and 203k loans. Qualified candidates will have at least 5 years underwriting and processing experience for residential FHA and Conventional; VA, RD, and 203k loans

• Perform timely reviews of stipulations/conditions submitted
• Thorough knowledge of credit underwriting and property evaluation
• Analyze loan packages to deliver valid credit decisions
• Maintain quality control standards while maintaining production standards by company's definition
• Provide stellar customer service to all staff by effectively explaining credit decisions\
• Perform other job related duties and special projects as required
• Able to prepare reports for review

Essential Skills:

• Must possess a minimum of 5 years experience in underwriting FHA, VA, RD and Conventional loans
• Thorough understanding and strong working knowledge of credit, underwriting, credit policy and financial statement analysis
• Knowledge of DU and LP
• Strong credit, risk analysis, and analytical skills
• Be able to examine loan documentation for accuracy and completeness
• Service oriented with great personality
• Ability to work with loan originators and production staff to acquire all required documentation
• Be familiar with fraud detection techniques
• Correspondent banking experience a plus
• Must possess strong credit, risk analysis and analytical skills
• Active CHUMS # preferred, but not required.

** Required Skills:**

• Customer service or banking experience is a plus
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Intermediate level of computer knowledge including Windows operating environment and email.
• Ability to use 10-key
• Ability to type 35 wpm
• Ability to use office machines and perform basic mathematical functions
• Ability to travel between local branch locations to accommodate temporary staffing needs as required
• Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs
• Ability to work in a standing position for more than 1 hour at a time
• Ability to move about in and easily traverse work area in order to facilitate assigned tasks
• Ability to communicate easily with customers in English
• Ability to discern an internal/external customer’s needs and easily convey information to same.
• Ability to use and control a computer keyboard and mouse
• Ability to draft/complete bank forms and prepare any reports necessary, in legible penmanship
