Job summary

Choice Financial Group in Kentucky seeks a Mortgage Loan Officer to develop residential mortgage business by serving homebuyers, realtors, builders, and financial professionals. You will advise borrowers throughout the mortgage process, structure financing solutions, and collaborate with the mortgage operations team for a responsive lending experience.

The successful candidate will build a book of business while expanding Choice Bank’s mortgage presence in the community, maintaining compliance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business-related field is required or preferred.
  • 1–3 years in banking, lending, or customer service; mortgage experience a plus.
  • Active or ability to obtain NMLS registration; strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Build customer relationships by advising and servicing mortgage loans.
  • Originate, evaluate, and structure residential mortgage loan applications.
  • Coordinate with processors, underwriters, closers and customers through the pipeline.
  • Develop and maintain referral networks with realtors, builders, and real estate professionals.
  • Meet profitability and performance targets on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
  • Cross-sell additional Choice Financial services.
  • Represent Choice Financial in the community and business development activities.
  • Proactively manage loans and partnerships to support timely closings.

Description

The Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for developing residential mortgage business by building trusted relationships with homebuyers, realtors, builders, financial professionals, and community partners. This individual will advise borrowers throughout the mortgage process, structure financing solutions based on each customer’s needs, and collaborate closely with Choice’s mortgage operations team to deliver a responsive and transparent lending experience. The successful candidate will be motivated to build a book of business while helping expand Choice Bank’s mortgage presence.

Business Development
  • Build customer relationships through the advising and servicing of mortgage loans.
  • Originate, evaluate, and structure residential mortgage loan applications.
  • Acquire and maintain accurate and timely data, coordination and communication with processors, underwriters, closers and customers throughout the pipeline process.
  • Develops and maintains referral and industry networks including but not limited to realtors, builders and real estate professionals, and other business development contacts.
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual profitability and performance standards.
  • Cross-selling of additional Choice Financial services.
  • Network and represent Choice Financial in the community, economic, and business development.
  • Proactively manage assigned loans and partnerships to support timely closings.
Compliance
  • Stay abreast of compliance changes, certifications and regulations to assure compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of the changing rules and regulations pertaining to both private and government-insured mortgages.
  • Assures controls, guidelines, documentation and procedures are followed for secondary market pricing and expirations.
  • Contains knowledge of bank and insurance (conventional and/or government lending guidelines) products and services.
Other General & Administrative
  • Submits application forms to processing for verification of application information.
  • Communicates with applicants or other persons to resolve questions, documentation needs, qualification concerns, and credit decisions.
  • Contains knowledge and complies with policies and procedures and industry changes.
  • Performs duties outside normal scope as assigned.
Requirements
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Sales, Marketing or related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in banking, lending, or customer service (mortgage experience a plus).
  • Active or ability to obtain NMLS registration.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and integrity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow within the mortgage lending field.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

The base salary for this role is listed below. This pay range is posted to comply with wage transparency laws. The base salary may vary based on skill, ability, knowledge, experience, and geographic location. Full-time employees are also eligible for a competitive bonus and benefits package.
