Job summary

Southside-Bank in Fort Worth, TX is seeking a Mortgage Loan Officer to originate residential mortgage loans and manage the loan lifecycle from application to decision. The role involves collecting borrower information, analyzing credit data, and coordinating disclosures with Compliance, while meeting production goals.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s degree or equivalent and strong analytical, Excel, and communication skills, with the ability to guide applicants through loan options

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Interview mortgage loan applicants and collect information for a complete loan package.
  • Analyze data including credit reports and underwriting findings.
  • Recommend loan options and coordinate disclosures with Compliance.
  • Submit applications to processing and notify applicants of decisions.
  • Produce regular production and projection reports and ensure regulatory compliance.

Summary of the Job

Originate Portfolio and Secondary Market mortgage products

Essential Functions:
  • Interviews residential mortgage loan applicants and request information to complete a thorough loan application.
  • Compiles and analyzes data for residential loan applicants including credit report and automated underwriting findings.
  • Recommends and outlines loan options.
  • Coordinate with Compliance for the delivery of the Disclosure documents
  • Submits completed application package to processing.
  • Notifies applicant of loan decision. Corresponds with customers, applicants or creditors to resolve questions for loan approval.
  • Provides annual production goals and monthly closing projection reports.
  • Understands and follows all local, state and federal laws and regulations as they apply to residential loans and security agreements.

  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience:
  • Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Skills:
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to define problems through collection of data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Prioritize, organize, and delegate assignments.
Physical Activity/Dexterity:
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers. Works with fingers and perceives attributes of objects and materials.
Physical Environment Demands:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to visit other offices, conference rooms, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and telephone.
  • Constantly positions self to operate on a computer.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with other people throughout each day. Must be able to exchange accurate information when conversing.
Working Conditions/Environment:
  • Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
  • Moderate noise (e.g. business office with computers and printers, light traffic)
Work Schedule/Hours:
  • Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Available for overtime as needed.
