Quest Food Management Services LLC is seeking a Sous Chef I for Barrington School District in Barrington, IL. The role supports culinary operations in a school setting, assisting the Executive Chef with staff, food prep, and safety compliance.

The position emphasizes kitchen leadership, inventory management, and contribution to menu development to ensure quality and cost control. Monday to Friday schedule, 6:00am-2:00pm within a 10-month term.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; culinary degree or certification preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience working in a professional kitchen environment.
• Basic knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen sanitation practices.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Executive Chef in planning and executing daily kitchen operations to ensure timely and quality food production.
• Supervise and train kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
• Monitor inventory levels, order supplies as needed and manage food cost controls to optimize profitability.
• Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations within the kitchen area.
• Contribute to menu planning and recipe development to align with customer preferences and seasonal availability.
