What We Need:

We are looking for a Morning News Editor for the Rocky Mountain Region of 24/7 News. This is an exciting full‑time opportunity to write and craft newscasts for KOA's morning news block, as well as provide local, regional, and national news content to the 24/7 News Wire. Availability and desire to work early mornings is a must.

What You’ll Do:

• Write clear, concise news copy.
• Assemble stories into newscast under intense deadline pressure.
• Produce, edit and write content for 24/7 Newswire.
• Post news and video content to newsroom social media platforms.
• Gather audio from press conferences, live events and partner TV stations.
• Produce short‑form reports (voicers/wraps) for anchors on the following shift.
• May be called on to anchor breaking news reports as needed.
• General newsroom responsibilities and duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need:

• Must have strong news writing and story selection skills.
• Must know how to assemble stories in a newscast in a logical order.
• Must be willing to work early, pre‑dawn hours.
• Strong social media skills including email, writing/posting for Facebook, X (Twitter) and Instagram.
• Excellent writing and editing ability; excellent grammar.
• Strong time management skills; adept at setting priorities and managing deadlines.
• Knowledgeable and up to date with local, regional, and national trends.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Proficient in media production (primarily audio) and broadcast systems.
• 3+ years' experience in on‑air journalism in smaller market or college station.
• 4-year college degree, preferably in Broadcast Journalism or Communications

Compensation:

Salary to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job‑related qualifications, and alignment with market data.
