Job summary

WMBD and WYZZ, the CBS and FOX affiliates in central Illinois, seek an experienced Morning Co-Anchor to lead by example and engage audiences across platforms. The role requires a high-energy on-air presence and active involvement in social media and community events.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of on-air anchoring and reporting experience, strong news judgment, and a team-oriented leadership style to mentor staff and drive audience growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• Fluency in English.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to ad lib when required.
• Minimum two years' experience in news anchoring and two years of on-camera news reporting.

Responsibilities

• Present news stories for all platforms.
• Ensure content meets journalistic integrity and production standards.
• Enterprise and develop stories daily with management.
• Evaluate leads and tips to develop story ideas.
• Build a network of sources to stay ahead of competitors.
• Write and deliver news stories clearly and concisely.
• Demonstrate compelling storytelling with live shots, graphics, and digital media.

Skills

Broadcast Journalism degree

Fluency in English

Excellent communication

2+ years anchoring

2+ years on-camera reporting

Education
