Job summary

Hy-Vee is hiring a Coffee Shop Barista to greet customers, craft beverages, and keep the shop stocked and clean. You’ll learn quickly, work with a team, and deliver a positive experience every morning.

As part of the Coffee Shop team, you’ll take orders, help customers find products, handle POS transactions, and maintain food safety standards in a fast-paced store environment. Training is provided, no prior experience required.

Qualifications

• Follow written and verbal instructions with confidence.
• Use basic math skills for simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
• Communicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful way.
• Stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy coffee shop environment.
• Less than a high school diploma or equivalent accepted; up to six months of similar or related experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly, learning their names, and going the extra mile to make every visit a positive one
• Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone, and assist with finding products and answering questions
• Prepare and replenish coffee shop products as needed throughout your shift
• Monitor product freshness and appearance and follow or develop a production list to stay ahead of daily needs
• Handle food safely and keep the work area clean, neat, and up to department standards at all times
• Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed
• Run the department register and process payments where applicable
• Remove trash promptly and maintain a tidy department
• Work alongside your teammates to ensure a smooth, positive experience for every customer
• Maintain compliance with Hy‑Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies
• Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed
