Job summary

Augustana College in Rock Island, IL seeks a Building Service Worker/Custodian to maintain campus facilities with thorough cleaning and safety practices. The role requires 1–3 years of cleaning experience, physical stamina, and the ability to work with diverse staff and students in a busy environment.

The position is full-time, non-exempt, with a 40-hour calendar-year schedule and a wage of $15.00 per hour. Benefits include medical, retirement, PTO, and tuition benefits for staff and family.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1–3 years of cleaning/maintenance experience in a team-based environment.
• Ability to operate with a high level of physical endurance and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains assigned areas on campus per standards (vacuuming, mopping, trash, bathrooms, windows/doors).
• Perform periodic deep cleaning (polishing, carpet shampoo, floor care).
• Set up and tear down of spaces for events and activities.
• Coordinate with staff and follow supervisory instructions.
• Identify and report issues to supervisory staff and assist others as needed.
• Comply with safety guidelines in all duties.
• Support special projects and campus events preparations.
• Other duties as assigned.
