Job summary

Central Montessori Schools in Encinitas, CA seeks passionate Assistant Teachers to support our preschool team within a Montessori environment. You will collaborate with lead teachers to deliver hands-on, child-directed learning that nurtures independence and curiosity.

You will supervise preschoolers during activities, prepare and organize Montessori materials, observe progress, and assist with daily routines. A warm, patient approach and strong teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience working with preschool or early childhood-aged children.
• Knowledge of Montessori philosophy is a plus.
• Current or planned CPR and First Aid certification.
• Warm, patient, and nurturing demeanor with children.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Must meet California childcare licensing requirements.

• Observe and document individual child progress and developmental milestones
• Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom culture aligned with Montessori philosophy
• Communicate effectively with lead teachers, staff, and families regarding student needs
• Assist with daily routines including snack time, rest periods, and personal care as needed

Requirements:

• Experience working with preschool or early childhood-aged children preferred
• Familiarity with Montessori philosophy and methods is a plus
• Early Childhood Education (ECE) units or degree preferred
• Current or ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification
• Warm, patient, and nurturing demeanor with a genuine love for children
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Must meet California state licensing requirements for childcare staff
