Job summary

Guidepost Montessori in Northbrook is seeking passionate Assistant Guides to support infants to preschoolers in a calm, engaging classroom. No Montessori experience required, and hands-on training will be provided to help you grow alongside dedicated mentors.

You’ll support routines, foster independence and build positive relationships with children and families, while collaborating with Lead Guides to create a thriving classroom community.

Qualifications

• Genuine love for working with children.

• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Interest in learning and growing within the Montessori approach.
• Ability to meet Illinois DCFS requirements for working in a licensed childcare center.

Responsibilities

• Observe children closely to understand and support their individual needs.
• Help prepare and maintain a beautiful, orderly classroom environment.
• Support individual and small-group learning activities.
• Build warm, respectful relationships with children and families.
• Collaborate with Lead Guides and team members to create a strong classroom community.
• Support daily routines including meals, transitions, outdoor play and age-appropriate care.
• Encourage independence through everyday activities.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming and nurturing environment for every child.
