Job summary

Syngenta Seeds is seeking a senior scientist to lead GM/GE trait pipelines in controlled growth environments and guide cross-functional teams in maize and soybean projects. You will supervise projects, manage stakeholder relationships, and uphold HSE, biosafety, and regulatory standards to ensure safe, compliant operations.

The role requires guiding multi-disciplinary teams, optimizing pipelines, and driving innovation with a strong background in crop sciences and trait development.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or MSc or B.Sc. with extensive crop sciences experience as specified.
• Substantial experience in crop improvement, trait development, and seed production.
• Knowledge in agronomy, genetics, plant breeding, physiology, molecular biology, and statistics.
• Working knowledge of greenhouse facilities, equipment and operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead timely delivery of GM/GE trait pipelines in controlled environments.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary early-stage projects with major field crops like maize and soybeans.
• Manage year-round maize stock production for high-quality embryos.
• Operate and upgrade plant growth facilities to meet evolving needs.
• Ensure compliance with HSE, biosafety, regulatory and budget controls.
