Position Description:

Are you passionate about ensuring system reliability and performance in high-stakes environments? As a Monitoring & Alerting Strategist, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our financial client's operations. By designing and implementing robust monitoring and alerting systems, you'll help prevent downtime, detect anomalies, and ensure seamless service delivery. Your future duties and responsibilities:

As a Monitoring & Alerting Strategist, you will be responsible for the following:

  1. Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems for all applications using Elastic Cloud, Kibana, and Opsgenie.
  2. Develop and manage application metrics to track performance, reliability, and user experience.
  3. Create and refine alerting rules to ensure timely detection and response to system anomalies and outages.
  4. Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate monitoring solutions into the software development lifecycle.
  5. Use JIRA to track and manage monitoring and alerting related tasks, issues, and projects.
  6. Analyze monitoring data to identify trends, predict potential issues, and recommend improvements.
  7. Develop scripts and automation tools to enhance monitoring capabilities and streamline processes.
  8. Conduct regular reviews and audits of monitoring and alerting systems to ensure they meet evolving business needs.
  9. Provide training and support to team members on monitoring tools and best practices.
  10. Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in monitoring and alerting to continuously improve our systems.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in monitoring and alerting roles, preferably in financial or high-availability environments.
  • Proven experience with Elastic Cloud, Kibana, Opsgenie, and JIRA.
  • Strong background in writing code and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).

Skills:

  • Expertise in designing and implementing monitoring and alerting systems.
  • Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting monitoring data to drive decision-making.
  • Strong understanding of application performance metrics and their impact on business operations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:

  • Master's degree in relevant field or relevant experience.
  • Certifications in monitoring and alerting tools or methodologies (e.g., Elastic Certified Engineer, ITIL).
  • Experience with additional monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Amazon CloudWatch, AWS CloudTrail, or Azure Monitor.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and their monitoring services.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
  • Experience in the financial services industry, particularly with compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Advanced scripting and automation skills.

CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $69,700.00 - $154,300.00.
