Smart Hires Corporation is seeking a Monitor Tech to monitor telemetry rhythms, interpret rhythms, and promptly notify RNs of any critical changes. Responsibilities include documenting rhythm strips, entries, and discharges, and preparing telemetry equipment and patient leads for application.

Job description/Responsibilities: Full-Time (0.8)AM ShiftAPPROXIMATE PAY RANGE:$32.20 - $38.45 POSITION SUMMARYUnder general supervision the Monitor Tech is responsible for monitoring and interpreting telemetry rhythms, notifying RN of any rhythm changes (in a timely manner). Demonstrates attitudes and behaviors consistent with hospital policies including confidentiality of employee and patient information.ESSENTIAL DUTIESTelemetry Monitoring Skills1. Responsible for the continual monitoring of telemetry patients.Working knowledge of the telemetry monitoring equipment/systemsAbility to change paper2. Performs the following functions accurately:Identified P, QRS, and T waves; recognized abnormalities when presentIdentifies St segments: normal, elevated, and depressedMeasures PR, QRS, QT, R-R &P-P intervals; recognizes abnormalities when presentMeasures PR, QRS, QT, and R-R & P-P internals; recognizes abnormalities when presentIdentifies atria, functional, ventricular, pacemaker rhythms and blocksQuickly recognizes lethal or potentially lethal rhythmsNotifies RN immediately if a lethal or potentially lethal dysrhythmia/abnormality is seen.Enters or discharge patient to telemetry systemsDocuments all new entries and dischargesDocuments all new entries and dischargesPrepare telemetry unit, lead wire, and electrodes for applicationApplies electrodes and telemetry unit, when not working as a monitor tech (i.e. works as a nursing assistant): -Skin preparation -Electrode check -Lead placement checkIdentifies possible artifact or lead failure and communicates this to RNCollects and document rhythm strips every shift, and whenever there is a change in rhythm or heart rate; RN to initial strips every shift, and whenever there is a change in rhythms or heart rate; RN to initial strips prior to placement in chart3. Must be able to hear equipment alarms, overhead pages, and direct verbal communication.Hazards- Will have close contact with patients and is likely to come in contact with blood and body fluids.- Often exposed to infection. Will be fit tested for the particulate respirator.- Works with electrical equipment.- Occasional exposure to radiation (X-Ray).
