Job summary

FMOL Health in Jackson, MS is seeking a Monitor Tech to support telemetry services on the Telemetry-St Dominic Main Campus. You will monitor patients' EKG rhythms, record observations, and ensure monitors function correctly during night shifts.

Responsibilities include interpreting rhythms, reporting dysrhythmias to the nurse, troubleshooting interference, and handling telemetry transmitters while following established guidelines under supervision.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent and completion of the Monitor Tech course within six months.
• Strong communication and customer service skills with basic computer literacy.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to use monitoring equipment.

Responsibilities

• Accurately interprets cardiac rhythms and records strips every 8 hours and as needed.
• Recognizes dysrhythmias and reports them to the nurse immediately.
• Troubleshoots interference and artifact on monitors.
• Seeks consultation when interpretation limits are reached.
• Responsible for dispensing and retrieving telemetry transmitters.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Monitor Tech monitors patients EKG rhythm patterns on electrocardiograph monitors. Makes note of irregular rhythms and monitors changes in rhythms. Ensures that monitors are functioning properly. Relies on established guidelines to accomplish tasks. Works under close supervision.

Responsibilities

Interpretation & Reporting of Cardiac Monitoring

• Accurately interprets cardiac rhythms and records monitor strips on the cardiac monitoring form on all telemetry patients every 8 hours and as needed.
• Recognizes and immediately reports dysrhythmias to the nurse.
• Recognizes interference and artifact and is able to troubleshoot and correct problems.
• Recognizes limitations in cardiac interpretation and seeks consultation when appropriate.
• Responsible for dispensing and retrieving telemetry transmitter.

Quality

• Demonstrates good knowledge regarding medical terminology.
• Strives to promote the quality and efficiency of his/her own performance through participation in staff educational programs, approved continuing education courses, and specialized skill training programs. Attends an annual EKG course to maintain proficiency in interpretation of EKG strips.

Other Duties As Assigned

• Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
