The responsibilities of the monitor technician include continuous observation of patient heartbeat patterns, noting heartbeat irregularities in the patients’ telemetry rhythm, ensuring that heart monitors are functioning correctly, and reporting any concerns to the RN in charge of the patient/charge nurse. Possess troubleshooting skills to recognize monitoring problems, identify probable causes, and seek solutions to correct the problem.
