Job summary

White Oak Medical Center is seeking an experienced Monitor Technician for our Central Telemetry Unit. You will document rhythms, obtain strips, and maintain the Monitoring Console while supporting multidisciplinary quality improvement teams.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, BLS, and 1 year of relevant clinical experience; completion of the Monitor Technician program within 6 months of hire is expected. Schedule is 36 hours weekly with days and weekend rotations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year of emergency/acute clinical experience or equivalent.
  • Completion of Monitor Technician Program within 6 months of hire.
  • Active BLS certification required by American Heart Association.
  • Dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Document rhythm on EKG flow sheet and report changes to nurse.
  • Obtain strips on irregularities and monitor strips at shift start.
  • Maintain charge requisitions on monitored patients and notify nurses for electrode changes.
  • Keep Monitoring Console and paper loaders in ready condition; monitor assigned telemetry.
  • Provide verbal reports to relief staff and patient reports to incoming technicians.
  • Verify and adjust alarm limits per patient; ensure alarms are active at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

White Oak Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Monitor Technician for our Central Telemetry Unit who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.

As a Monitor Technician, you will:

  • Document rhythm on EKG flow sheet. Immediately reports any change in cardiac rhythm to the nurse.
  • Obtains strips on irregularities.
  • Maintain charge requisitions on monitored patients
  • Make nursing personnel aware of need for replacement of patient electrodes and/or newly monitored patients to be connected.
  • Maintain safe and effective operation of the Monitoring Console at all times.
  • Ensures that paper loaders are full.
  • Monitor assigned telemetry console.
  • Obtains monitor strips at the start of each shift, interprets strip, puts date and time on each strip, and places it on flow sheet.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
  • Provides a verbal report to relief persons and gives a patient report to oncoming technicians.
  • Verify and adjusts alarm limits as established for the levels appropriate to the individual patient.
  • Verify alarms are on at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications include:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1-year experience with emergency situations and maintaining continuous strips of cardiac rhythms and or at least one (1) year of acute clinical experience required.
  • Completion of the Monitor Technician Program within 6 months of hire
  • Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Proficiency in dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation - strongly preferred

Work Schedule:

  • Employment Type :Full-time

  • Hours per Week : 36 hours per week (three 12 hour shifts)

  • Typical Daily Schedule: 6:45 AM–7:15 PM

  • Shift Type: Days

  • Weekend Requirements :Required, every other weekend rotation

  • Holiday Requirements: Required to follow unit holiday calendar

  • Shift Differential Eligible :Yes

Pay Range:

$19.21 - $24.90

If the salary range is listed as $0 or if the position is Per Diem (with a fixed rate), salary discussions will take place during the screening process.
