Job summary

The Monitor Technician at Reid Health Main Campus works the night shift to provide continuous ECG surveillance from the Central Monitor Station. You will recognize rhythm changes and report them to the RN, documenting heart rates and intervals and assisting with rhythm interpretation in a fast-paced environment.

Under supervision, you will troubleshoot monitor issues, admit and discharge patients in the ECG system, maintain accurate records, and support patient safety with Reid’s values of

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Reid Health Basic Arrhythmia course upon hire.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in health care setting assisting with direct patient care.
  • Must be willing to obtain Basic Life Support (BLS).

Responsibilities

  • Provide continual ECG surveillance at the Central Monitor Station.
  • Recognize dysrhythmias and rhythm changes; report to the RN.
  • Document atrial/ventricular rate, PR interval, QRS, QT, QTc; assist with rhythm interpretation.
  • Troubleshoot monitor problems and support equipment.
  • Admit/discharge patients in the ECG monitoring system; update electronic reports.

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the technician recognizes, records, and reports dysrhythmias or rhythm changes, assists with rhythm interpretation, and troubleshoots technical monitor issues. This position requires strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and a commitment to patient satisfaction and safety while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment The patient population served within the unit varies based on its specialty and may include individuals with acute and chronic medical conditions, post-surgical recovery needs, and complex comorbidities requiring multidisciplinary care.
