Job summary

Paradise Valley Hospital in National City, part of Prime Healthcare, is seeking a Monitor Technician to support nursing staff by monitoring cardiac rhythms and maintaining patient records on the Telemetry unit.

Responsibilities include transcribing orders when CPOE/EMR is unavailable, preparing charts, ordering supplies, and assisting with indirect patient care under RN supervision. Requirements: high school diploma, Dysrhythmia interpretation, BLS, and 6 months healthcare experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (or related experience) required for new hires.
• Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate within 30 days of hire and kept current.
• BLS (AHA) certification at hire and kept current.

Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac rhythms via direct cardiac monitors.
• Transcribe physician orders in the absence of CPOE/EMR.
• Prepare and compile patient records and unit charts daily.
• Assist nursing staff with indirect patient care under RN supervision when appropriate.

Responsibilities

The Monitor Tech is an unlicensed person who performs indirect care in the department setting. Monitors cardiac rhythms via direct cardiac monitors. Meets the communication needs of the department. Transcribes physician orders in the absence of CPOE and EMR clinical documentation system. Verifies that lab tests and radiology tests have been ordered and done. Prepares and compiles records in Med/ Surg/ Telemetry. Orders supplies for the unit and prepares and completes each patient's chart for necessary forms needed on a daily basis. Able to assist nursing staff with indirect patient care duties as long as the activity does not distract from primary responsibility for dysrhythmia monitoring. *Note: May provide direct patient care under the direct supervision of the RN within scope of Certified Nursing Assistant if 1) possesses active CNA certification; 2) demonstrates annual competency in CNA duties and skills and 3) is relieved of Monitor Technician duties during the time of assisting the RN.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• 1. High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for all new hires, effective April 2014.
• 2. Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current
• 3. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
• 4. Six months previous experience in Healthcare or as Monitor Technician

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $23.00 to $26.75. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
