Job summary

Holy Family Medical Center- LTACH in Des Plaines, IL seeks a Monitor Tech to monitor cardiac rhythms and support the healthcare team in an on-site, per diem capacity. The role includes transcribing orders when needed and ensuring proper documentation and test coordination.

Qualified applicants will have a High School Diploma or equivalent, a current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate, and a current BLS certificate. Six months of healthcare or monitor technician experience is required.

Qualifications

• Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
• Six months previous experience in Healthcare or as Monitor Technician

Responsibilities

• Monitors cardiac rhythms via direct cardiac monitors and transcribes orders in the absence of CPOE/EMR.
• Verifies that tests are ordered and done and prepares and completes patient charts daily.
• Orders supplies for the unit and may assist RN with indirect patient care under supervision.

Overview

Department: Medical Surgical Telemetry

Schedule: Per Diem, Varying Shifts

Facility: Holy Family Medical Center- LTACH

Location: Des Plaines, IL 60602

Responsibilities

The Monitor Tech is an unlicensed person who performs indirect care in the department setting. Monitors cardiac rhythms via direct cardiac monitors. Meets the communication needs of the department. Transcribes physician orders in the absence of CPOE and EMR clinical documentation system. Verifies that lab tests and radiology tests have been ordered and done. Prepares and complies records in the ER. Orders supplies for the unit and prepares and completes each patient's chart for necessary forms needed on a daily basis. Able to assist nursing staff with indirect patient care duties as long as the activity does not distract from primary responsibility for dysrhythmia monitoring. *Note: May provide direct patient care under the direct supervision of the RN within scope of Certified Nursing Assistant if 1) possesses active CNA certification; 2) demonstrates annual competency in CNA duties and skills and 3) is relieved of Monitor Technician duties during the time of assisting the RN.

Pay Transparency

Holy Family Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation for this role is $22.42 an hour. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
