Job summary

Coral Gables Hospital is seeking a Monitor Tech/Unit Secretary to support nursing operations on the unit. Under supervision, this role performs monitor tech duties and unit secretary tasks, greeting patients and staff and ensuring a professional atmosphere.

The candidate will interact with physicians, patients, and visitors, providing non-professional information and maintaining accurate information flow to support patient care and physician satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current BLS certification.
• Excellent English communication skills.
• Medical terminology knowledge.
• ECG rhythm knowledge; 12-lead ECG preferred.
• Previous monitor technician experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform Monitor Tech functions and Unit Secretary duties.
• Greet and direct patients, physicians, and visitors professionally.

Position Summary:

Under the supervision, and/or direction of the Nursing Director/Clinical Manager, Resource Nurse, or Staff Nurse performs the Monitor Tech functions and Unit Secretary functions. Responsible for ensuring a professional atmosphere in the nursing unit. Demonstrates good public relations skills during interaction with physicians, patients, visitors, and other hospital staff. Greets, directs, and gives non-professional factual information to patients and personnel from other departments. Critical to success of patient and physician satisfaction.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Required licensures/certifications

• Current BLS

Skills and Abilities

• Good oral and written communication skills in the English language.
• Bilingual a plus.
• Medical terminology.

Experience

• Moderately advanced knowledge of ECG rhythms; knowledge of 12 lead ECG preferred.
• Previous experience as a monitor technician preferred.
