Job summary

AdventHealth is seeking a Monitor Tech to support patient telemetry in a full-time day-weekend schedule. You will observe monitors, document events, and communicate with the healthcare team.

Responsibilities include maintaining alarms, documenting patterns, and assisting in maintaining a clean, organized work environment while pursuing ongoing education and training.

Qualifications

• Must read, write, and speak conversational English.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
• Pleasant telephone manner and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and nights.
• Basic EKG knowledge or class.
• Completed arrhythmias course during orientation.
• Ability to learn and pass competency checks within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Observe monitors, document normal and abnormal EKG patterns.
• Notify nursing staff of abnormalities.
• Maintain monitor alarms and adjust as required.
• Troubleshoot telemetry equipment and ensure clean workspace.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and ongoing education.

Job Description: Shift: Full Time Day-Weekend The Monitor Tech demonstrates behavior that aligns with the company's core values. Documents in accordance with department policy and maintain telemetry logbook. Observes monitors, recognizing and documenting normal and abnormal EKG patterns, and promptly notify nursing staff of any abnormalities. Maintains monitor alarms per policy, verifies that alarms are set and audible every shift, and troubleshoots monitors as needed. Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities, demonstrating accurate documentation and monitoring of activities, and supporting departmental quality standards and initiatives. Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrade skills, performing other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department or unit. Maintains telemetry printout during cardiac arrest and as indicated. Ensures effective communication with the healthcare team regarding patient status and any changes observed. Assists in maintaining a clean and organized work environment, ensuring equipment is properly sanitized and stored. Participates in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices and departmental procedures. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Required Ability to quickly learn and successfully complete a competency skill check off list within 90 days of employment.
• Required Ability and willingness to work a flexible workweek including weekends, nights, and overtime as required.
• Required Customer service skills.
• Required Demonstrates a specialized level of knowledge and thorough understandings of practices/procedures related to hospital nursing practices, telemetry monitor, and infection control procedures.
• Required Basic knowledge of computer use or willingness to learn.
• Required Must have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, which addresses the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-appropriate needs of the patient populations served within the department.
• Required Ability to communicate effectively.
• Required Accurate typing skills.
• Required Neat and legible handwriting.
• Required Successfully complete Virtual Patient Observation training.
• Required Verbal interpersonal skills.
• Required Ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions.

• Required Basic EKG class or equivalent knowledge.
• Required Medical terminology.

Preferred Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent

Preferred Work Experience: 1+ years of monitor tech experience

Preferred Licenses and Certifications: Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)

Pay Range: $15.58 - $24.93
