Responsibilities

• Monitor patients' cardiac rhythms by analyzing EKG strips and identifying arrhythmias.
• Promptly communicate critical findings to nursing staff and healthcare providers and document accurately.
• Observe monitors continuously and notify appropriate staff of rhythm changes or invasive waveform changes.
• Troubleshoot monitor equipment and report malfunctions to Charge RN, Clinical Supervisor or Director.
• Obtain documentation strips at required times for all EKGs and waveforms.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As a Monitor Tech, you will be responsible for continuous observation and analysis of patients' cardiac rhythms to detect and report changes.

Every day you will meticulously monitor EKG strips, identify arrhythmias, measure intervals, and promptly communicate critical findings to nursing staff and healthcare providers, ensuring accurate documentation.

To be successful, you will demonstrate sharp observational skills, a thorough understanding of cardiac rhythms, and the ability to act quickly and precisely under pressure, crucial for patient safety and timely intervention.

• Maintains continuity of care by processing patient records accurately and promptly from admission to discharge.
• Uses current information system.
• Constantly observes all monitors and promptly notifies Charge Nurse or RN responsible for patient rhythm and / or invasive waveform changes.
• Functions efficiently during emergency situations.
• Able to run and troubleshoot monitor equipment, reporting any malfunction to Charge RN, Clinical Supervisor or Director.
• Obtains documentation strips at required times of all EKG and applicable waveforms.

Job Requirements

Required

• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Basic EKG class or successful completion of the basic rhythm test
• American Heart Association
  • Basic Life Support - CPR

Preferred

• Medical terminology class or related training
• One (1) year Monitor Tech experience in an acute care setting
• Previous experience with a patient care module or personal computer
