Job summary

Oberlin City Schools is seeking a part-time Monitor I to help maintain order on campus. The role involves supervising playground and cafeteria activities, assisting with bus duty and light office tasks. You will work under the Building Principal and support a positive school environment.

Requirements include a high school diploma and the ability to meet health and background checks. CPR/First Aid training is preferred, along with the orientation to adapt to varied situations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, Ohio Educational Aide/Monitor preferred.
• Meets mandated health requirements.
• Clear criminal record documentation.
• ODE/ESEA qualification preferred for student monitor/educational aide.
• Self-directed and able to learn required skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise playground activities for a safe, beneficial environment.
• Supervise cafeteria for an orderly, safe lunch experience.
• Assist with bus duty to promote safe loading/unloading of students.
• Monitor hallways and perform light office duties as needed.
• Maintain positive rapport with students, staff, parents, and admin.
• Attend up to four inservice/orientation meetings annually on a voluntary basis.

Monitor I

RESPONSIBLE TO: Building Principal

JOB GOALS: To assist in maintaining order in the school by monitoring student activity, assisting with office, cafeteria and playground routines, and supporting the instructional process

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent diploma. Ohio Educational Aide/Monitor as defined in section 3319.088 of the revised code preferred.
• Meets all mandated health requirements.
• Documentation of a clear criminal record.
• Student monitor or educational aide certification from ODE, ESEA qualification preferred.
• Self-directed and able to learn the required skills for the position.
• Able to respond appropriately in a variety of situations with varied clientele
• First aide, CPR, and Heimlich maneuver trained.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the playground activities to provide a safe and beneficial environment.
• Supervise the cafeteria to provide an orderly, efficient, safe and pleasant lunch experience.
• Bus duty to help ensure and promote safe loading and unloading of students as needed.
• Monitor hallways.
• Performs light office duties such as: duplication of materials, answering and directing phone calls, filing, light typing, preparation of bulletin boards and displays as needed.
• Maintain a positive rapport with students, staff, parents and administration.
• All Classified employees are encouraged to attend up to four (4) inservice or orientation meetings annually on a voluntary basis.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the building principal according to Board approved evaluation instrument.
