Camp Bow Wow® - Premier Doggy Day and Overnight Camp Basics
Availability Needs:

Weekends: 1 working day per weekend is required (Saturday or Sunday) during general scheduling unless requested off within the system

Holidays: Ability to work some holidays is required – all recognized holiday shift hours are half the normal length (AM is 6:30a-11a & PM is 3:30p-7:15p). Employees working on recognized holidays will be paid time and a half! Holidays are our busiest times of the year and we need sufficient staffing to ensure our festive pups are well-loved and taken care of! Requests for time off are on a first-come first-served basis.

Wages:

starting pay is $11.50 (+ tips) / per hour (or commensurate with experience after training).

After your training period is completed, wages can be negotiated with Management and will be based upon a performance evaluation.

Uniform Requirements:
  • Shoes – Must have closed toes and heels. Non-slip shoes are highly recommended.
  • Top layers – Red shirt is required for employees – different colored layers are okay underneath but red must always remain your top or majority layer!
  • Pants – No rips/holes and no mesh/lace. Pants also must be appropriate length at all times.
  • *A Camp-branded t-shirt will be given to employees who complete and pass their trial period*
Ideal Candidate Characteristics:
  • Fosters a supportive, positive, energetic, and thoughtful attitude
  • Thrives on being loving, gentle, and nurturing towards all dogs, regardless of breed, size, or age!
  • Comfortable with messes, high levels of physical work, and loud noises
  • Ability to be alert and aware at all times
  • Focuses on having a team-centered and reliable work ethic
  • Can handle urgent matters with sensitivity and carefulness
What We Need from Our Humans:
  • Supply our Canine Campers with endless attention, lots of love, positive reinforcement, and entertainment
  • Know our Campers’ names, behaviors, and quirks
  • Learn dog body language to then evaluate and manage all dog-to-dog interactions through consistent cues and commands
  • Apply prevention skills when necessary but also be willing and able to use reactionary skills when handling more urgent matters
  • Observe Campers' behaviors and energy levels in order to appropriately assign them to the proper play yards (which will require distinguishing between dog vocalizations, ex: distress barks, play, greetings, aggression, etc.)
  • Perform canine health checks throughout the shift
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygienic standards when performing responsibilities inside and outside of the play yards
  • Communicate to peers effectively regarding Camper concerns ranging from behaviors, illness, incidents, breaks, etc
  • Prep and provide meals to Campers while adhering to their feeding instructions – also provide accommodations to our “picky eaters” while maintaining all dietary restrictions
What Camp Offers Our Humans:
  • PTO
  • Quarterly attendance bonuses
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Bring your own dog to work (after completion of training)
  • Employee discounts (for boarding, daycare, and grooming services!)
  • Hands-on training in dog body language, care, and behaviors
  • Performance-based opportunities for growth within the company

No experience necessary for this position, but any level of professional experience is a huge bonus! Otherwise, we’ll provide the knowledge to help you build your canine skills!

Camp Counselors do more than just pet and play with puppies - you'll be supervising, engaging with, and positively conditioning groups of 20-25 dogs, varying in size, breed, and play style! This position includes a lot of cleaning, moving, and independence so be ready to show us what you can do!

We work as hard as we play and you can expect to go home tired, covered in dog kisses & hair, but also while feeling super fulfilled. We love what we do & we love the dogs we work with even more!!
