Job summary

Beacon Mobility is hiring a School Van Monitor to support safe student transportation. The role includes assisting students with boarding and seat belts, monitoring behavior, and reporting issues to management. You’ll use the two-way radio, communicate clearly with staff, and may need to lift or install car seats.

Training is provided. Part-time hours are offered (20–25 per week) at $18.54 per hour, with benefits such as 401(k), dental, vision, and life insurance.

Qualifications

  • Age 18+ and able to pass background checks (CORI/SORI) and drug screening.
  • English communication skills required (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

  • Assist students entering/exiting the vehicle and securely fasten them in car seats or boosters.
  • Monitor student behavior and report unsafe conduct to management; follow directions and corrective steps as assigned.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and Van Pool staff using two-way radio system.

Requirements

What You’ll Be doing:
  • Safely assist students as needed. This includes helping them enter and exit the vehicle, using the vehicle’s lap and shoulder belts, and safely securing them in car seats and booster seats. Lifting may be required.
  • Monitor student behavior to provide appropriate guidance, feedback, and direction when necessary. Report unsafe and inappropriate student behavior to management; follow directions and implement corrective steps as assigned.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly in (English) with students, parents, teachers, and Van Pool staff.
  • Must demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills while using Van Pool’s two-way radio system.
  • Must have the physical capability to safely install car seats and booster seats.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal directions and instructions from supervisors.
  • Must demonstrate a willingness to work effectively with school age children with special needs.
