Job summary

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) seeks a mid-career material scientist for the Nuclear Chemistry & Engineering Group to advance molten salt and fluorination chemistry using actinide or surrogate materials.

You will lead tasks and projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and applying techniques like XRD, spectroscopy, and calorimetry to address environmental cleanup, nuclear science and energy challenges.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA with 5+ years of relevant experience OR
  • MS/MA with 3+ years of relevant experience OR
  • PhD with 1+ year of relevant experience

Responsibilities

  • Conduct R&D for fluorination and molten salt systems.
  • Safely operate complex hazardous systems involving radioactive and toxic materials.
  • Apply analytical techniques to characterize materials and processes.
