Job summary

Unified Women’s Healthcare seeks a Molecular Lab Supervisor to oversee daily operations of the molecular laboratory in Morrisville, NC, ensuring regulatory and accreditation compliance and maintaining rigorous quality control records.

You will supervise molecular technologists and lab assistants, coordinate sample delivery, and drive process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and safety in a high‑volume lab environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in molecular/microbiology.
• ASCP MB certification preferred.
• Bachelor's degree required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise molecular technologists and laboratory assistants in accessioning, performing and interpreting molecular microbiology specimens.
• Provide back-up to other positions in the laboratory.
• Prepare for CAP and other inspections.
• Perform required compliance tasks.
• Participate in other projects and duties as needed.
• Responsible for overall performance of the molecular department.

Job description

Overview

The Molecular Lab supervisor oversees the daily operations of the molecular laboratory and assures compliance with all the regulatory and accreditations requirements. Supervises, trains and assures competency of personnel. Performs new test validations. Performs routine molecular tests when needed. Assists in the troubleshooting of problems with tests, instruments and sample delivery. Reviews tests, performance and maintains quality control records. Maintains record of instruments, failures, calibrations and repairs. Prepares summaries of quality assurance records. Works with Care departments to assure appropriate sample delivery and appropriate test requisitions. Performs laboratory tasks and other functions independently. Oversees and works towards improving overall molecular department workflow as it relates to quality, efficiency, and safety.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in the field of molecular and/or microbiology
• Experience with Hologic/Gen-Probe Panther Instrumentation for CT/GC & HPV
• ASCP certification in Molecular Biology (MB) preferred
• required Bachelors degree
