Job summary

Texas A&M Agrilife Research is seeking a Technician I to support molecular plant pathology research. The role involves conducting experiments, data collection, and assisting with development of detection technologies for plant pathogens in a collaborative lab environment.

Ideal candidates have at least two years of molecular biology lab experience, strong attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. The position is hourly and based in College Station, TX.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; two years of lab experience in molecular biology: cloning, DNA/RNA purification, sequencing, gel electrophoresis.
• Knowledge of laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, and computer equipment.
• Able to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conducts experiments and technical procedures.
• Solves research problems and collects data.
• Reviews literature on potential procedures and experiments.
• Modifies procedures to suit specific research needs.
• Orders scientific supplies and equipment.
• Assists with planning and supervising technical operations.
• Assists personnel in controlled-environment/analytical experiments.
