Job summary

Valley Medical Center in Burnsville, MN seeks a Technologist II to oversee the toxicology and molecular workflow, ensuring timely, accurate testing in the Main Lab (Corporate Lab). The role includes instrument maintenance for PCR-related devices and data interpretation within the LIS system.

Responsibilities cover QC, reporting, inventory management, and cross-functional collaboration with lab staff to maintain high-quality laboratory operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in chemical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology, or equivalent education and experience.
• ASCP accreditation strongly preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Perform Instrument maintenance on PCR, QuantStudio5s, Kingfishers, and GeXPs as needed.
• Process results from previous evening samples through the toxicology and molecular workflow including loading and queueing of the instruments.
• Assist with molecular data interpretation, instrument troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Perform qualitative and quantitative Molecular data analysis.
• Process patient results through LIS and finalize reports following procedures.
• Maintain assay QC for PCR/RT-PCR, King fishers and Capillary Electrophoresis.
• Submit monthly reports on QC and department metrics.
• Document corrective and preventive actions in testing procedures.
• Utilize PCR/RT-PCR, capillary electrophoresis and other methods for root cause analysis.
• Perform specimen receiving in LIS and organize samples by workflow.
• Manage Laboratory Inventory and stock rotation.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in chemical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology, or equivalent education and experience
