Job summary

Precise Systems seeks a scientist with at least 2 years of hands-on molecular biology/biochemistry experience to support defense-related research projects. You will work on PCR/qPCR, DNA/RNA extraction, protein analyses, and data interpretation, while writing reports and collaborating across teams.

Eligibility for a Secret clearance is required. You will read scientific literature to troubleshoot and improve experimental designs, contribute to data accuracy, and assist with planning follow-up

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in a molecular biology or biochemistry laboratory setting.
• Proven proficiency in PCR, DNA/RNA extraction and purification, and basic nucleic acid analysis.
• Experience in handling and analyzing RNA and DNA samples.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional attention to data accuracy and written/verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently and with other research teams.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

• Execute molecular biology techniques, including PCR / qPCR, SELEX, DNA/RNA/plasmid extraction and purification, protein expression and purification, and analyses of proteins and nucleic acids.
• Provide general support for research programs, including data analysis and contributing to experimental design.
• Read scientific literature to troubleshoot issues and improve experimental designs and strategies.
• Learn new techniques as part of research support and demonstrate continued skill acquisition.

Precise Systems is seeking candidates with at least 2 years of hands-on laboratory experience and the ability to work both independently and in collaboration with other team members. You should be able to plan and execute assigned tasks, organize and analyze data, provide preliminary interpretation of your results, and contribute to writing reports and the design of follow-up experiments.

Duties

• Participate in the execution of chemical and biological defense projects involving biochemistry and synthetic biology
• Execute molecular biology techniques, including PCR / qPCR, SELEX, DNA/RNA/plasmid extraction and purification, protein expression and purification, and analyses of proteins and nucleic acids
• Provide general support for research programs, supporting not only laboratory execution but also analysis of experimental data and support to experimental design
• Read and refer to scientific literature to troubleshoot technical issues and identify opportunities to improve experimental designs and strategie
• Learn new techniques as a part of research support, including reproducing methods from the scientific literature: a demonstrated track record of continued skill acquisition in the workplace is expected.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in a molecular biology or biochemistry laboratory setting.
• Proven proficiency in PCR, DNA/RNA extraction and purification, and basic nucleic acid analysis.
• Experience in handling and analyzing RNA and DNA samples.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with other research teams
• Ability to assist with other duties as assigned
• Ability to complete additional training as assignedMust be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

Required Education

• Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or related field

Compensation at Precise Systems is determined by various factors, including education, experience, skills, competencies, and contract-specific requirements. The salary range for this position is $44,819.01 to $67,228.04 (annualized USD). This range represents the standard pay for this role and is just one component of Precise Systems' total compensation package.
